Awards and Achievements
In 1963, Dr. David Alger was accredited by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners and chosen Man of the Year by the Xi Psi Phi dental fraternity. In 1970, he was awarded Diplomate status by the American Board of Orthodontics. This status, dependent on outstanding education, clinical expertise, and successful completion of a stringent three-part examination, makes Dr. David Alger one of only 38 percent of all orthodontists chosen for this honor. Our Fort Worth, Arlington, and Burleson practices are privileged to have Dr. Alger among its staff.
After obtaining his orthodontic specialty degree in 1965, Dr. David Alger ran a private orthodontic practice in Texas for 18 years and served as a consulting orthodontist at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for six years. He has two patents, one on the Alger-Lite, which is used in our office, and another on the Algerbrush II. Dr. David Alger has had papers published in the nationally known Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, and he has presented at annual meetings of the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Alger has filled various positions in numerous professional organizations for orthodontists, including chairman of the By-Laws Southwest Society of Orthodontics, president and delegate of the Brazos Valley District Dental Society, chairman of the By-Laws and Qualifying Committee of the Charles G. Tweed Orthodontic Study Group of Texas, and president of the University of Texas Orthodontic Alumni Association and chairman of the Peer Review Committee.
